  • Notarized power of attorney

OPTION 1: Employment Program:

  1. Applicants need to be employed by a Panamanian company or employed by their own COMPANY in Panama
  2. Certificate of Public Register of the Company’s existence
  3. Notarized Copy of the Notice of Operation
  4.  Notarized copy of the power of attorney to MITRADEL signed by the legal representative and applicant.

OPTION 2: Real estate investment Program:

Applicants need to invest a minimum of $200,000. in Panama real estate properties.

  1. Certificate of Public Registry of Panama proving property ownership with a minimum value of 200,000. The property acquisition operation may be financed through a local bank.

OPTION 3: Fixed term deposit Program:

Applicants need to deposit a minimum of $200,000. in BANCO NACIONAL DE PANAMA for 3 years.

  1. Certificate from a Panama bank, stating the existence of the fixed term deposit in the amount of 200,000.00.

WHAT IS PANAMA TAX RESIDENCY? 

If you have obtained permanent residency through the Friendly Nations visa,  you might be interested in obtaining your tax residency certificate to avoid double taxation. The purpose of a tax residency certificate is to prove to other countries that you are a permanent resident of Panama and can not be taxed in another country.    One main benefit of this certificate is that it can be used by citizens of countries such as Mexico, Spain, France, UK, Germany, among others, for the avoidance of double taxation with Panama.

To qualify for a tax residency certificate is when you can prove that you are spending a minimum of 183 days in Panama.

  • Proof of your activity that generates income in Panama

  • Details of tax treaty

Frequently Asked Questions

 Can I work in Panama? YES, with friendly nations visa, you can obtain work permit and work in Panama

 Can I add my dependent(s) in friendly nations visa? Yes, you can add your family members in your application when applying for Friendly Nations Visa.  This visa will grant your family members permanent residency as well.

 My partner and I are living together but we are not officially married. Can we apply together? No. Panamanian law requires an apostilled marriage certificate to order to apply together. However, we can file for residency visa separately.

 How long the documents for my application are valid? The police clearance report is valid for up to six months.  However, the Health Certificate issued in Panama is valid for ninety days and pension letters are valid for one year.

 How long does it take to obtain a Work Permit? The process to obtain a Work Permit is separate from the process to obtain Residency Visa. The Ministry of Labor ( MITRADEL) is responsible for issuing Work Permits. The work permit process takes approximately 6-9 months. 

 How long do I need to stay in Panama to maintain my Permanent Residency status? Permanent Residency may be suspended if you have not been in Panama for 2 years. 

What is the E-Cedula and how do I get it?  The E-Cedula is optional and issued by the Tribunal Electoral. However, we recommend that all citizens of Friendly Nations Visas to apply for E-Cedula once they become a permanent resident of Panama.  With E-Cedula, permanent residents do not need to carry their passport anymore. 

 Can you become a Panama Citizen and obtain Panama passport? Yes, Friendly Nations citizens who become Panama Permanent Residents are eligible to apply for Panamanian Citizenship and passport after 5 years.   

 Can my dependent(s) become Panama resident(s)? Yes.  Spouses and applicant’s children are eligible to receive permanent residency as well.  ASK US FOR DETAILS

E-CEDULA ID CARD:

Approximately after 15 days of receiving permanent residency, applicants can apply for the E-Cédula (Panama official ID). The E-cedula is issued by the Tribunal Electoral and must be renewed at the expiration date.
